The Michigan Daily
The Michigan Daily is the University of Michigan's independently-financed, student-run on-campus newspaper. The Daily prints five days per week and boasts more than 230,000 unique visitors per month to its website. As a senior staff writer, I primarily wrote articles on the music industry, pop culture and campus culture.

Projects Home
Program in International & Comparative Studies (PICS) and the Center in Middle Eastern and North African Studies (CMENAS)
As a research assistant working for two academic departments at the University of Michigan, I interviewed students, faculty, alumni and donors to produce engaging news stories to publish online and in various departmental newsletters.

Art on Trial
Completed in partial-fulfillment of the Honors Program degree at the University of Michigan, my honors thesis explores the intersection of the American criminal justice system, art and the news media. Using three case studies, I explore the role of visual stereotypes in media reporting on criminal trials by comparing court illustrations, news reports and legal documentation of each trial. The cases studies included: the Central Park Jogger Trial, the Jean Harris Murder Trial, and the Matthew Shepard Murder Trial.

Flint Institute of Arts
As a Curatorial Intern with the Flint Institute of Arts, I compiled research reports on the Japanese Decorative Arts Collection. In addition, I produced twenty draft object labels for the collection.
The collection features a range of decorative objects, from satsuma-ware and arita-ware pottery, to lacquer work, to gold & copper metal work. The collection, too, ranges from the early 13th century to the Meiji dynasty, with objects from across the Japanese islands.

Academic Research
From the compelling paintings of Chinese artist Baoshi, to examining the exhibition of African cultural objects, to a critical analysis of China's Belt and Road initiative, here is a sample of my academic research at the University of Michigan, the top public research institution in the United States.
